FRESNO, Calif. -- Federal investigators are examining complaints of discrimination and poor management at the Fresno offices of the U.S. Census Bureau.

Andrew House, spokesman for Visalia Congressman Devin Nunes, confirms there is an investigation by the Commerce Department's s Office of Inspector General.

Employee complaints led to the investigation.

Fired James Braun and Robin Walker, who are white, are among those who filed complaints saying Hispanic supervisors routinely gave Hispanic census workers favorable assignments. Braun and Walker say they were fired after filing civil rights complaints

Elections officials say questionable signatures - including at least one dead voter - were submitted by campaigns to get candidates on the June 8 ballot. Fresno County officials have turned over the cases to the California Secretary of State's Office for investigation.
