Things are really breaking down fast in Mexico. When local communities are no longer capable of running something as simple as a local police department anywhere, you know the whole country is pretty much trashed.
For all its misery, there was always a sense that Mexico was still better than, say, Brazil or Columbia. Not any more.
And it's right on our border.
