"And it would make the mere presence of an illegal immigrant anywhere in Arizona a violation of state trespass laws. All MCSO deputies to get immigration training"

That's great for Arizona, but what about California?

If one state can do it, it will show others that they can also.

Without debate, the Senate on Monday approved a far-reaching measure designed to give police more power - and more direction - to stop and arrest those who they believe are in the country illegally.

SB1070 would require police to make a "reasonable attempt" to determine the immigration status of anyone they come into contact with during an investigation. And it would make the mere presence of an illegal immigrant anywhere in Arizona a violation of state trespass laws.

....
This looks like it might be it. But it really doesn't explain how the bill actually "gives police more power - and more direction - to stop and arrest those who they believe are in the country illegally". As the article goes into explaining the bill it says "SB1070 would require police to make a 'reasonable attempt' to determine the immigration status of anyone they come into contact with during an investigation." That isn't the same thing as requiring police to stop and arrest people they think are in the country illegally.

If the police see somebody who cannot speak English, and they have no papers to identify themselves as being in the country legally, they should be required to arrest them on suspicion of illegal entry.

That is true but do you think CA will do anything? We have allowed Villiar, Cortines and buddies to just about control all of CA. I did not fill in all the Sac names because we know all those already.
