Try not to get angry:

June 2010, as “Refugee Awareness Month.”PROCLAMATIONby theGovernor of the State of California The United States is a land of opportunity for people from all over the world. Yet for some, a journey to our shores is not just an effort to pursue their dreams, but an attempt to find safe haven. When this is true, refugees come to California knowing that our state can provide protection and a chance to thrive.

Our state is enormously proud of our cultural diversity, as well as the determination and ingenuity brought by those who have settled here. The contributions of these transplanted Californians have helped create greater prosperity throughout the state and continue to promote the success of many of our industries.

Picking up and moving to a new country is no easy task. Refugees are very strong individuals, but we must do what we can to help them through a tough transition. The California Department of Social Services oversees the state’s refugee resettlement programs, and their excellent work helps to alleviate the stress of a new environment. These efforts are crucial at the state, county and local levels, and I applaud all the hard work being done to help refugees.

This month, we promote awareness of refugees in our state, remembering that America itself is a nation of immigrants. With the support of communities all over the state, we can help refugees in becoming self-sufficient, so that these brave men and women can feel truly welcome in our Golden State.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim June 2010, as “Refugee Awareness Month.”

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of California to be affixed this 26th day of May 2010.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
Governor of California

ATTEST:

DEBRA BOWEN
Secretary of State

Without providing an example of what qualifies as a refugee in this shallow little display, he is happy to acknowledge that this is just another immigration program.

Quite a few of these refugees need to go back because their country is no longer under a communist regime.

Many already go back to visit relatives. If they can do that, they should be repatriated already.
