Default Mexican Consulate Urging Humanitarian Parole For Grandparents

An horrific accident up here near Sacramento has caused the deaths of nearly an entire family, the father of which was alleged to be a farmworker. The surviving child, is being cared for in a hospital, and the Mexican consulate is pressuring ICE to let both sets of grandparents in to be by his side. What stands out to me is that the grandparents must be "paroled" into the US. That term, coupled with the statement by ICE that they were prohibited persons leads me to believe they are convicted criminals and/or deportees who had abused the system previously. I'm going to try and track their case as best as possible to make sure they aren't given permanent quarter, but pay attention to the consulate saying they were a typical mexican family coming to work the fields....blah, blah, blah....

Sharon Rummery, San Francisco spokeswoman for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, said the boy’s relatives in Mexico could be allowed to travel to the United States under an emergency provision called “humanitarian parole.”

“It’s an extraordinary measure to bring in an otherwise inadmissible person to the United States for a temporary period of time due to a very compelling emergency,” Rummery said.

UCIS description of Humanitarian parole http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/usc...00082ca60aRCRD

A explanation from a legal site of who is inadmissible http://www.visalaw.com/05apr1/2apr105.html.

A sick child can be inadmissible, a sick child can receive humanitarian parole to enter the United States - presumably to receive medical treatment.

There are many grounds for inadmissibility (including having entered the US for the purpose of practicing polygamy). Having been deported for illegal presence is grounds for inadmissibility.

It would be interesting to see why the grandparents are inadmissible.
