President dreams of amnesty and fantasizes about his accomplishments

During his press conference yesterday President Obama fielded a question about the DREAM Act and the prospects for immigration reform. So much of his answer was false and misleading but let's just focus on two particular claims.
On the failure of the DREAM act, Obama lamented all the heartbreaking letters he gets from "just kids" who came to the US with their parents, who were undocumented, and who are going to school and playing football and dreaming of college or serving the military. "They didn't break any law" the president claimed. OK, then why doesn't he come up with a proposal to amnesty all the "kids" and deport all their law-breaking parents. After all, it shouldn't matter whether "the kids" want to go to the military or college or pump gas, they are here through no fault of their own, the president argues, and therefore should not be punished for their parents' actions. Well, the DREAM act doesn't amnesty every kid who is here illegally, it offers a path to citizenship for those who attend college or serve in the military. What about the "kids" who are here illeglly beause of their parents who don't want to do either of those things? Why does Obama favor punishing them?
Obama also told a whopper when he claimed that no administration has done as much as his to secure the border. Really. How much fencing has this administration built in the past two years? If Obama is in favor of defending the rule of law, as he also claimed, then why is his Justice Department suing Arizona for trying to enforce existing immigration law? Hasn't his administration benefited from a recession that has lead to a drop in illegal border crossings in the past two years? Oh, and what about all the violence and mayhem caused by the Mexican drug cartels? Remember the murdered rancher and border patrol agent, Mr. Obama. Go ahead and argue to their widows that you've done a bang up job of securing the border.
It would have been nice had the President shown just a little humility and acknowledged that immgration reform is extremely complicated with many legitimate competing interests all vying to push policy in a partucular direction. Drawing a black and white picture about "the poor kids" is an attempt to deny those complications and avoid being a leader.
