Why wouldn't the cartels think that the tactics that work so well in mexico wouldn't work equally as well here? Have they ever gotten any kind of message that such behavior was unacceptable and would be met with force including OVERWHELMING FORCE?
No. They got 3500 acres of our national forest. They got draconian prosecution of US agents enforcing US laws. What the cartels got was an engraved invitation on White House stationery to do whatever they want.
