Default I found these interesting comments about the DREAM ACT.

I found these interesting comments about the DREAM ACT.

Some critics called it a back-door draft
That's what it was. Awful legislation, that shows the blinders that Democratic supporters are wearing. Anti War when its convenient, Pro War whenever it suits their fancy. Or what do you think the military is going to do once it reaches its quotas with the vast majority of young undocumented immigrants that will enter the military rather than college? You think they're going to rebuild America's crumbling infrastructure?
Equality under the Law
A supermajority of Americans are against the back door amnesty Dream Act. Why? Because it violates one of the most fundamental American value.. equality before the law.
There is no way people who have broken the law get a bettter immigration deal than people who play by the rules. That is plain un American.
The pro amnesty advocates have adopted the values of third world countries like Mexico where disobeying the law is no big deal. (In Mexico, 98.5% of crime goes unpunished). The idea is if enough people break the law it becomes unenforceable, so just go for it. The results - failed, corruption and crime ridden countries.
But Americans know right from wrong.
In America, no one is above the law. No one.
Not so fast slamming GOP
Not that GOP shouldn't be slammed...it's just if reporters wandered into the nation's largest court, the one impacting most Americans for the longest period of time, they would be shocked at how poorly American kids are treated by American Family courts. After which GOP's actions just wouldn't qualify as "news."
For instance, as mentioned in the "News" section of familylawcourts.com - it's the holidays - and the holiday family murders have already commenced. Or, check out the Kids Killed section. Now featuring only multiple family murders. Most could have been prevented.
So while GOPS actions killed a dream, nobody really died. Not like the American kids who are dying courtesy of judges failing to protect them.
This is not "youth immigration".
These are young people who are here ILLEGALLY, the fault of their parents. They need to return HOME and RIGHT NOW, because they are taking away opportunities for American children in schools, colleges, jobs and yeah, even the military. They are costing the taxpayers billions and returning very little if anything.
One of the sad sorry things about Salon as it circles the drain in these "end days" is the loss of real illustrations to go with articles. About a year or so back, they went with "clip art and stock photos" and even sadder, sometimes very little effort is expended to match it up appropriately with the article. So here we get a random older white lady (??? is she an illegal alien? a YOUTH?) and a young Latina woman, holding what I presume is an "anchor baby". Whether intentional or not, this just underscores the problem: make living in the US illegally beneficial -- give young people rewards for their parent's lawbreaking -- and you just encourage MORE illegal immigration and MORE anchor babies and ANOTHER 12 million undocumented aliens.
Back when President Reagan offered "amnesty" to illegal aliens, we had five million of them. Today we have 12 million and rising. Salonistas won't be happy until we have THIRTY million, I guess.
Republicans have always been quite cynical in playing the "race card" and making it look like they want to "help" illegal aliens (amnesty, paths to citizenship, the Dream Act) but it is despicable and disgusting because what they REALLY WANT is to drive down salaries of US workers, kill unions, enrich the already wealthy and here, staff up a weakening volunteer army going into its EIGHTH year of an unwinnable, stupid war(s) based on entirely faulty military intelligence ("WMD"s).
Oops, working class Americans, I guess we are RUNNING OUT OF your lower-class, expendable boys and girls to blow up with EIDs in a godforsaken foreign rathole -- so we need to start plumbing hearty youths from Mexico and Central America! Nothing wrong with mercenaries! Pay those mercenaries with your children's FUTURES -- with their educations, colleges, taxes. All that matters is "staying the course".
The days when we could close our eyes to a "few illegals" here and there -- the migrant fruit worker who WENT HOME at the end of the season -- are OVER. This is a group of whiny entitled illegal aliens who dare to arrogantly parade in the streets, waving American flags and DEMANDING we feed, clothe and house them because THEY HAVE RIGHTS.
Of course, you do not have the "same rights" if you strolled into Mexico -- or any nation in Europe. These "rights" only flow one way.
There IS a path to citizenship -- one that all FOUR of my grandparents used almost 100 years ago. Apply, get in line, wait. It works. This is a nation of immigrants -- LEGAL immigrants. Anyone not willing to wait and work within the law, needs to get out and get out NOW.
Youth Immigraton
Libs are so gullible. I wouldnt care, but its destroying the nation.
We are all immigrants in a sense, it's true
But until 70 years ago there was no social safety net to think about.
Now, every immigrant is a potential liability as well as being a potential asset. Which is why we can't just grant citizenship to everyone who shows up here any more.
As for these poor youths who never asked to come here, they can go home with their illegal immigrant parents.
Almost everyone I know is an immigrant - as in they were born in another country and moved here legally. Here's the big secret about immigration - hard working, educated people who would pay a lot of taxes don't come here illegally. They follow the rules, and often get sent back home for it because of our insane immigration policies.
Illegals are predominantly people who are unable to support themselves in their homelands, due to lack of education or just plain laziness.
Send the illegals home. Return to intelligent immigration policies that welcome people likely to find success and deny people who will probably remain at the bottom of society.
You can see the ugly compromised face of the post-labour left in America showing here.
Racial issues have become a Pavlovian response for most people on the American left. Critical thinking is not welcome and that is exactly how business interest want it when it comes to illegal immigration. Hell if they could cast global warming a racial issue, a huge chunk of you would turn on science in a heart.
Thus people here screaming 'racism' ignore that illegal immigration primarily benefits people that want to exploit cheap labour. You clowns must realise on some level you are selling out the already vulnerable native-born working class to monied business interests. My, my how progressive of you.
The illegals should go home and the business owners who employ them should spend lengthy periods in prison. But Bill Clinton issued in the era of business interests being the driving force of the Democratic Party. And I see disturbing evidence of how pervasive that mindset is here.
Throw in knee-jerk responses to racial issues that create the illusion of you caring about people and your service to the monied interests is complete.
I'm celebrating!
One problem with the Dream Act was it allowed for chain migration- after each "youth immigrant" became legal, he could apply for his parents, aunts, cousins, nephews, etc etc to come in. Yes, even the parents who brought him here in the first place. You libs still think that makes good sense? Have you checked out the unemployment figures lately?
And Americans don't want a bunch of La Raza racist scum amnestied in. They showed their hand when they marched around with Mexican flags demanding their "rights," complaining when American children brought American flags to school.
This is a good day. Next step: enforce the border. Bye bye illegal trash!
more facts that you won't get at Salon
This is from Jeff Sessions. the full list is posted at http://michellemalkin.com/
3. The DREAM Act PROVIDES SAFE HARBOR FOR ANY ALIEN, Including Criminals, From Being Removed or Deported If They Simply Submit An Application
Although DREAM Act proponents claim it will benefit only those who meet certain age, presence, and educational requirements, amazingly H.R. 6497 still protects ANY alien who simply submits an application for status no matter how frivolous. The bill forbids the Secretary of Homeland Security from removing “any alien who has a pending application for conditional nonimmigrant status”—regardless of age or criminal record—providing a safe harbor for millions. Though the bill requires a modest “prima facie” showing of eligibility, this is the lowest standard of legal proof and could likely be satisfied by the alien’s signature. This loophole will open the floodgates for applications that could stay pending for many years or be litigated as a delay tactic to prevent the illegal aliens’ removal from the United States. Such delays will increase the number released on bail and will increase the number of absconders. The provision will further erode any chances of ending the rampant illegality and fraud in the existing system, and ensure that the bill becomes a surrender to illegality.
4. Certain Inadmissible Aliens, including those from high-risk regions, Will Be Eligible For Amnesty Under The DREAM Act
Certain categories of criminal aliens will be eligible for the DREAM Act amnesty, including alien gang members. The DREAM Act allows the following illegal aliens to be eligible for amnesty: alien absconders (aliens who failed to attend their removal proceedings), aliens who have engaged in document fraud, aliens who have falsely claimed U.S. citizenship, and aliens who have been unlawfully present in the US, even after being previously removed.
The exemption for fraud is particularly troubling because it creates a potential loophole for unknown terrorists who have defrauded immigration authorizes—as was the case with the 9/11 hijackers. At the same time, limited federal resources that are better utilized on tracking down such fraud will have to be directed towards reviewing potentially fraudulent claims on millions of DREAM applications. Making matters worse, the DREAM Act still allows the Secretary to waive all grounds of inadmissibility for illegal aliens, including criminals and terrorists.
5. Certain Criminal Aliens—including drunk drivers—Will Be Eligible For Amnesty Under The DREAM Act
Certain categories of criminal aliens can qualify for status under the DREAM Act. The bill includes a 1 felony/3-misdemeanor rule, similar to the 1986 amnesty rule. As a result, criminal aliens who have less than 3 misdemeanor convictions will remain eligible for legal, permanent status through the DREAM Act. Some misdemeanors can be extremely serious, such as driving under the influence, certain drug offenses, gang activity, some charges of sexual abuse of a minor, assault and battery, and even prostitution.
