Hispanic students attain majority in Texas schools

The spin and half truths in this one.



I don't care about this, to me it is irrelevant compared to the real issues as I see them:

Hispanic students for the first time make up slightly more than half of Texas public school children.

However, this bit of honesty to set up the spin below:

"Hispanics have become the first in our nation to drop out and the last to head to college"...

...Hispanics have historically lagged in high-school and college graduation rates....

How to fix it? 40 years of racist, backward looking "Chicano studies" hasn't changed much. How about true English proficiency, focus on assimilation, and get rid of the "educator" pushed idea that ancestral foreign origin requires loyalty to other countries??



This sounds reasonable on the surface but is just one more coded weaslism demanding money thrown down a bottomless pit:

Balcorta said Texas must work to eliminate the economic, language and technology-access barriers that hamper Hispanic children and eventually force many to drop out of school.

See above "true English proficiency, focus on assimilation, and get rid of the "educator" pushed idea that ancestral foreign origin requires loyalty to other countries".



And this one requires a slap to the back of the head and a "C'mon, now":

"The nation's Hispanic population is gaining numbers and strength because our community is young and hardworking."

"Young and hard working" at what? Unprecedented teenage pregnancy rates and failing school along with everything else negative that comes out of it?


You just had to see that one coming, Balcorta, but you tossed it out anyway.
