I haven't checked into these bills, and they will probably be gutted and amended into something entirely different sometime after midnight the morning those bills would go to the governor.

I believe that legalizing minor back yard growing for personal use while heavily enforcing trafficking laws would solve a lot of problems both here and in Mexico.

Forget trying to tax it in legal stores, it will cost more in many ways to try to collect it than to let it go. Of the several reasons Eric Garner died in New York a few months ago, the catalyst was that of being broke and trying to make money by undercutting heavily taxed commercial cigarette sales.

The problem with alcohol prohibition was this: It was illegal to manufacture and transport in any manner, and if the dry amendment had made it illegal illegal to drink liquor prohibition never would have came about. Prohibition thus was a money maker for criminals who didn't mind killing over a couple of bucks. It's the same for pot. Back yard, home use legalization would stop a lot of bloodshed and wild life habitat destruction.

One thing those knuckleheads in Sacramento don't realize is that you can't be all about both open borders and the living wage concept. The first cancels out the latter.

And, no, it's not just about day laborers either. The first time I worked with illegal aliens was in 1974, I've seen whole industries taken over by illegals starting with a few people, who then paved a way for for a large number of relatives and friends to come in and elbow the locals out by working for nothing. Then they would be all outraged that new groups would come in and undercut them. It's a vicious cycle that's been going on for over 40 years, and the 1986 amnesty only made the problem worse.
