The government already requires hospitals to report things related to crime such as gunshot wounds when they show up at the same hospitals. The state requires reporting of certain diseases and carriers of them, so it's hardly a new concept, or radical one.

Good points, but when it comes to illegals everything changes, they're the untouchables.

Doctors are required by law to report gunshot wounds, as well as suspected child abuse and suspected elder abuse, in addition to collecting payroll taxes.

no. They're carriers of diseases.

Default Russell Pearce

What's so difficult to understand what Russell Pearce is saying ?

Our country is becoming increasingly disgusting, disingenuous and corrupt.

Many police and hospital staff are just too lazy to cooperate and help defend us and themselves. It's the NIMBY syndrome "not in my back yard" Or the "PR" - Not my yob ? *job ).

It's just so ludicrous that the hospitals don't want to check immigrant status while all employers are required BY LAW to E-verify.

The hospitals are getting ripped off for hundreds of millions of dollars and some are closing down, driven into bankruptcy. What's the difference between terrorists sneaking in and setting of a dirty bomb in a hospital and the illegals driving it out of business ?

Wink

I just got back from Costa Rica last week. I was taking a public bus from Tamarindo and we were stopped by the police at a checkpoint and boarded. Everyone presented identification and I showed my passport. It seems they have a problem with illegals. Why can't we do something like that here? ACLU uuuummm???

I don't know.....Boarding a bus, plane, or ship within the US, and only traveling to points within the Us should not give rise to an ID check without reasonable suspicion. I don't think we want to give the government the power to perform blanket searches on everyone. The hospital though, is extending a service and unless the recipient of those services is paying in cash, the hospital has a right to ask for ID when extending credit or charity. And if the taxpayers are footing the bill for any charitable services at the hospital, I believe they have a strong obligation to demand ID from the recipient. Hospitals are like any other business, and they do credit checks on people applying for credit. If the recipient cannot provide ID, or provided some that led one to believe they were in the country without authorization, reporting that is a community service, much like reporting the carrier of a communicable disease.

I found this quite easily.

Quote:
In 1986, Congress passed the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) (42 U.S.C.A. § 1395dd), which established criteria for emergency services and criteria for safe transfer of patients between hospitals. This statute was designed to prevent "patient dumping," that is, transferring undesirable patients to another facility. The law applies to all hospitals receiving federal funds, such as MEDICARE (almost all do). The law requires hospitals to provide a screening exam to determine if an emergency condition exists, provide stabilizing treatment to any emergency patient or to any woman in active labor before transfer, and continue treatment until a patient can be discharged or transferred without harm. It also delineates strict guidelines for the transfer of a patient who cannot be stabilized. A hospital that negligently or knowingly and willfully violates any of these provisions can be terminated or suspended from Medicare. The physician, the hospital, or both can also be penalized up to $50,000 for each knowing violation of the law. http://law.jrank.org/pages/9111/Pati...Treatment.html
