Default Deportation's wide net

"The federal program is portrayed as a high-tech tool for quickly identifying and ultimately deporting dangerous “criminal aliens” — murderers, rapists, bank robbers, violent gangbangers and other serious felons who have previously evaded U.S.Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.

Using the stuff of “CSI” dramas, electronic fingerprints and other biometric data from every person booked into Sonoma County Jail are now checked across vast federal immigration records. The program, known as Secure Communities, has led to the deportation of 161 illegal immigrants convicted of serious felonies in Sonoma County in the past year"...

There's 5 pages of this, so I'll just post a link, but at least the sonoma county sheriffs Dept is starting to comply w/ 287(g), and the new Federal Safe Communities project regardless of the Sanctuary policies of Santa Rosa and other sonoma Cities.

Here's a related article:
Immigration attorney on hunger strike

"In the first days he felt more energy than usual. Then came weariness. Then he was lightheaded.

But Santa Rosa immigration attorney Richard Coshnear has persisted in a hunger strike which today reaches its 11th day.

In refusing to eat, the 53-year-old activist has become an extreme example of the passions over illegal immigration issues.

Coshnear, who is drinking water and fruit juice, said he is trying to force Sonoma County supervisors to look into and stop local cooperation with federal immigration authorities, raise public awareness, and energize immigrants to pressure the board".

Fruit & veggie juices are'nt a "hunger strike", rather a juice fast, if anything He's gone vegan, big deal, perhaps he'll fit in those pants He used to wear a few years back...
