Default Propaganda Alert! Somali's Taking "No" On Asylum as Irrelevant

Desperate Somalis seek 'back-door' route to US

Quote:
Kheire is one of hundreds of desperate Somalis in the last two years to have staked everything on a wild asylum gamble by following immigration routes to the United States traditionally traveled by Latinos.

With the suspension of a U.S. refugee program and stepped-up security in the Gulf of Aden and along Mediterranean smuggling routes, more overseas migrants from Somalia are pursuing asylum through what one expert calls the "back door."

All the troubles in the world and we open our doors and say come on in, bring it on in. When's it going to stop? Maybe when we look like the countries they left behind.

Spotlight: Lewiston, Maine, USA

In the fall of 2002, Lewiston Mayor Larry Raymond drafted an open letter to Somali leaders, pleading with them to help stop the influx of immigrants to the small town. “The large number of new arrivals cannot continue without negative results for all. The Somali community must exercise some discipline and reduce the stress on our limited finances and generosity,” he wrote. “Only with your help will we be successful in the future—please pass the word: We have been overwhelmed and have responded valiantly. Now we need breathing room. Our city is maxed out financially, physically, and emotionally.”

The letter came after more than 1,000 Somalis moved to the small city—population 36,000—in an 18-month period. (Most had been placed in Atlanta by the federal government as refugees, but then chose to move to Lewiston, drawn by its safety and smaller size.)

Lewiston quickly became overwhelmed by the needs of the newcomers: City officials said the influx strained social services such as welfare, job training, and language classes. Somalis make up a third of all tenants at the city’s largest public housing complex. More than a quarter of the families on the waiting list for public housing are Somali. Only about half the adults have found jobs. The city has doubled its general assistance budget (which provides food, housing, utilities, and medicine), has earmarked about one percent of its budget for services for the Somalis, and has cobbled together federal and state grants.

Lewiston’s assistant city administrator said that the property tax rate has now grown so high that every dollar spent must receive careful scrutiny. The city also worries what may happen if state and federal aid shrinks in upcoming years.

Governor Angus King Jr. has since announced the formation of a task force on immigration and refugee issues, noting that Lewiston faces a situation that “would be difficult for any community.”

This sort of stuff rarely gets discussed or brought to light. It's all, come one come all, we have an endless supply of wealth. Now the pain of "no good deed goes unpunished" is starting to set in. Any leech or parasite can be shown as proof that the host can only survive if the amount taken off/away is less than is replaced. That's not happening in many areas, especially here in California. Eventually the host weakens and dies.

Has anyone been paying attention to Lewiston Maine? Those poor poor people. While the MSM portrays Lewiston as revitalized with somalie immigration, new stores (for immigrants) new mosques (they are muslims) new housing (state provided) what is really going on there.

Lewiston, Maine Police Investigate Somali Gang Attacks - '...Witnesses and investigators say swarms of Somali boys, some as young as 8, others in their late teens, overwhelm solitary victims through sheer numbers. LEWISTON — In the early evening on the first day of summer, a large group of Somali boys approached a woman on the corner of Ash and Pierce streets. According to police reports, they intimidated the woman and slapped her in the back of the head before scattering into the downtown.

Five days later, shortly after midnight, a man was accosted by a group of Somali boys outside the Big Apple on Main Street. Police reports say several members of the group punched the man and took money from him. They then fled in a car.

Later that night, a woman in her late 60s was beaten by a group of Somali boys and relieved of cash while walking in Kennedy Park.

Five nights later, another man was jumped by a group of similar description. He resisted the gang and was beaten badly. He required surgery.

Throughout the summer, similar reports have come into the Police Department. Witnesses and investigators say swarms of Somali boys, some as young as 8, others in their late teens, overwhelm solitary victims through sheer numbers.

Over the last several years, the public schools have struggled with issues of
how to accommodate the Somalis' religious beliefs and practices, including
women's use of the veil, dietary requirements, daily prayers, fasting during
Ramadan, and girls' participation in P.E. The public school system has been
very solicitous of the Somali community and their religious practices, working
with a cultural broker to achieve solutions satisfactory to both the more
conservative Somalis and the public schools. They adopted a dress code
allowing the use of headwear for religious purposes, allow Muslim girls to put
on sweatpants under their hijab for P.E., allow students to opt out of PE
during Ramadan, and have allowed for special gym classes to avoid physical
contact between boys and girls. They also allow Muslim students to leave for Friday prayer, although they discourage this. They have not gone so far as to create a special prayer room for Muslim students at the school, although in the City of Portland, 30 minutes away, the high school has created a special prayer room.

Khat. Fresh leaves of khat (Catha edulis), a flowering shrub native to northeast Africa and the Arabian peninsula, contain cathinone--a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act. The leaves typically begin to deteriorate after 48 hours, causing the chemical composition of the plant to break down. Once this occurs, the leaves contain cathine, a Schedule IV drug. In many Middle Eastern and African countries, khat is not a controlled substance and is sold openly at markets. Many immigrants from these countries continue to use khat in the United States. Several cities in Maine, including Augusta, Lewiston, and Portland, are home to small communities of Somali refugees, and more refugees are relocating to the state. The demand for khat in Maine is increasing in correlation with the increase in Somali refugees. Khat available in the state typically is first transported to New York City from Great Britain via couriers on commercial aircraft and then into Maine via package delivery services. On March 22, 2002, law enforcement officials seized 51 pounds of khat from a Portland airfreight office and arrested the individual who attempted to claim the package.

The people of Lewiston deserve our prayers. Unfortunately when someone DOES complain, they are immediately called white nationalists and find themselves in more trouble than the ones who attacked them.

room.

I got hooked up to two different refugee settlement/support groups by way of email notifications. You really want to get pissed off, see how the do-gooders are constantly lobbying the immigration authorities or the secretary of state's office to bring them here, and soliciting for help to support their sorry asses once they arrive. I say "sorry asses" because they play this up pretty well. Funny thing is, the US should be propping them up in their home countries with arms and other support if they are so worthwhile. If anything would increase democracy, it's pummeling oppression where it happens. All the US is doing right now is bringing the misery here.

The more somalies we let in, the more trouble we have.

http://www.theatlantic.com/unbound/flashbks/fgm/fgm.htm

"Mother says she will do it anyway, herself--when I'm out of the house--if I don't agree to get it done soon," Genat confides to the woman she hopes will help her. "She says she will take a razor blade and do it." Ramsey nods. She has heard this story many times before, and responds by reciting a long list of reasons why the older woman must be stopped, trying to give Genat the courage to buck tradition and disobey her mother. "You cannot let her do this to your child. Please. It is wrong. You know how painful it is. How damaging. Your daughter may hate you for life for what you allow to happen to her."

Genat shakes her head. She doesn't want her baby girl, just born in this country, to be circumcised, as is customary in her native land, but her mother is adamant.

"She believes in it so strongly," Genat says. "She said if I don't do these things, the girl will grow up horny. She'll be like American girls. And how will I be able to go back to work if my mother is not here to care for my child?"

This is in every state, throughout the country. This is what we are importing.

It's not all we are importing.

In November, Mr. Hassan and two other students dropped out of college and left for Somalia, the homeland they barely knew. Word soon spread that they had joined the Shabaab, a militant Islamist group aligned with Al Qaeda that is fighting to overthrow the fragile Somali government.

The students are among more than 20 young Americans who are the focus of what may be the most significant domestic terrorism investigation since Sept. 11. One of the men, Shirwa Ahmed, blew himself up in Somalia in October, becoming the first known American suicide bomber. The director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Robert M. Mueller, has said Mr. Ahmed was “radicalized in his hometown in Minnesota.”

An examination by The New York Times, based on interviews with close friends and relatives of the men, law enforcement officials and lawyers, as well as access to live phone calls and Facebook messages between the men and their friends in the United States, reveals how a far-flung jihadist movement found a foothold in America’s heartland.

It's pretty much like my father said. No good deed ever goes unpunished.
