Default Most Questionable Academic Causes

There are so many more classes than these, but here are a few in this article.

Most Questionable Academic Causes
Malcolm A. Kline, December 29, 2010
This is a hard list to narrow down, particularly since many of them wind up as courses. Yet and still, here are, we believe, some very viable nominees:
1. Prisoners’ rights
2. Repealing the U. S. military ban on homosexuality among members, regardless of whether straight soldiers reenlist
3. Amnesty for illegal aliens at a time of escalating violence on the southern border
4. Insisting that global warming is a fact rather than an open scientific question, especially in the wake of Climategate.
5. Pushing for green jobs when evidence indicates two positions will be lost for every environmentally correct post gained.

How about special interest oriented history, like feminist based history, gay based history, etc. I think it makes sense if you want to study such things in history, but it's pretty weird to teach history as if it could revolve around such narrow interests. And for every special interest there is an interpretation of world history that is supposed to revolve around it. All at the same time. Doesn't make sense.

Ethnic studies.

Purportedly a study of "culture", I believe it foments racial discord and promotes racist ethnic nationalism. Whatever "culture" is related has been filtered and re-interpreted so that it fits a far left American definition of society.

If one has Mexican national parents but is growing up in America, the ethnicity is mixed. If one's family has been in America for several generations, that person is not ethnically "Mexican", regardless of what the professors say. Just like only an old Mexican grandmother can make "authentic" Mexican food, only someone who has grown up and matured in Mexico can genuinely be "Mexican".

'"Cultural studies" is a total waste of taxpayer money and socially divisive.
