Mexico To Nationalize The Police

The proposal, which the president’s aides say is expected in the coming weeks, would all but do away with the nation’s 2,200 local police departments and place their duties under a “unified command.”

From my perspective, this places calderone in a more dictatorial position.

Things are really breaking down fast in Mexico. When local communities are no longer capable of running something as simple as a local police department anywhere, you know the whole country is pretty much trashed.

For all its misery, there was always a sense that Mexico was still better than, say, Brazil or Columbia. Not any more.

And it's right on our border.
