I don't know any rank and file Catholics who are sympathetic to the Catholic elites.

My impression is that the Catholic Church is very like the GOP. There is a tremendous gulf between the leadership and the rank and file and the rank and file are getting restive.

We need reform in a lot of places. The reform should be getting back to what made this country great.
Does anyone remember how the Clintons tried to pass a health care bill? The GOP really tried to distroy them. I don't remember what the reform was but NO one has been able to change anything about health care.
I know someone who obtained a health insurance policy in about 1995, the cost was about $132 per month. Of course the preminum has gone up because of changing age but last year it went to $537 per month for the same coverage. The person had to lower the coverage, now that is where we need CHANGE. How about prescription drugs? OUT OF SIGHT.

The Catholic Church isn't anything like the GOP. The Catholic Church is a global institution of imense power. The Catholic Church was born rotten and has always been rotten. If you volunteer to be Catholic, then you have nothing to complain about in the Catholic Church. If you volunteer to be a Republican, then it is your responsibility to argue your place in the Republican party.

Where we need change in health coverage is not how it is paid for, but what exactly we are paying for. The easiest example is transgender surgery. To you want to put anybody's money in the hands of medical professionals who hack up the genitals of teenagers in order to make them into the opposite sex? This is a medically sanctioned procedure, not just in the US, but in many other countries in the industrialized world.

No, I do not want that, neither do I approve of all that plastic surgery. I will grow old and sagged as nature intended.
