Default Temporary And Part-Time Worker Outreach Effort

Ayatollah's Note:
This article in the Sac Bee has inspired an SOS campaign for me, and I hope if it gets any traction up here that others will follow it.

White-collar jobless join FedEx, UPS for holidays

http://www.sacbee.com/state_wire/story/2408535.html

Quote:
FedEx and UPS, the world's two largest package delivery companies, hire thousands of extra workers every holiday season, usually college students and 20-somethings. This year, the unemployment rate is at 10 percent and many experienced professionals are looking for work. A lot more people came to job fairs wearing a coat and tie, said UPS spokesman Norman Black.

OK, so here's what we can do. There is a draft of a flier uploaded on the forum attached to this post, and it is here for anyone and everyones use, but hopefully lots of SOS'ers will download and print it. The flier will be advising temporary workers that there is another amnesty attempt in the house, and if it is successful, it will give legal authorization for undocumented illegal workers to apply and compete for these mainstream temporary jobs after it passes. If they thought finding work amongst thousands of unemployed was hard this year, think of the prospect of having to compete with an additional few million newly authorized workers.
With the season upon us, everyone of us that accepts a package from UPS or fed-ex or whomever will then also hand that worker a flier advising them that we support keeping scarce jobs confined to America's already unemployed legally authorized workers.
The attached flier should be downloaded and distributed as written. If any alterations or additions are made by anyone other than Save Our State management, they will have done so without our permission and may not use our corporate name. If you would like to propose changes to the official document, we welcome that, and encourage participation in our efforts by registering on the forum and becoming an associate or supporter of SOS. The main point of this particular effort is to educate citizens about this legislation, so we encourage other advocacy groups to embrace this idea in engaging any efforts of their own.

Are Your Employment Opportunities Endangered By Immigration Reform?
If you are a temporary worker, part-time worker, unemployed worker, or think you may be entering the ranks of those seeking employment soon, there is legislation in congress that may affect your employment opportunities in the near future. A bill to legalize millions of currently un-authorized workers in the United States has been introduced by a congressman from Illinois, Rep. Luis Guiterrez, and 87 other members of congress have co-signed the bill.
The bill, H.R. 4321, also named the Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009, would extend the right to apply and be hired for any job an employer offered to millions of people residing in the US illegally at present. This means that anyone who may be currently working at less than mainstream jobs such as day labor, under the table employers, or even clandestine self-employment, will be eligible to apply for temporary, part time, or any other jobs that you may be competition for in the near future.
If you are unfamiliar with Day Labor sites, they are primarily frequented by illegal aliens who have no legal work status in the US, and the number of persons using them are in the the tens of thousands alone. This bill would clearly give them the right to compete with you for any job offered by any employer.

The bill is currently working its' way through the house of representatives, but the proponents of it have stated they want it to become law by April 1st, 2010, less than 100 days from now. This would place it shortly after most holiday seasonal employment has ended, and millions of US citizens are hunting for replacement jobs.

If you have an opinion on this bill, we urge you to express it to your congressional representative by contacting them at their field offices in your district, or using any other contact media they provide to their constituents. If you would like help locating your congressional representative, or if you would like to discuss or relay your employment experiences in relation to foreign competition or immigration, we invite you to do so at our forum:

The above flier can also be handed to retail clerks you are making purchases from this year. They hand you a reciept, you say "thanks and here; I have something for you this year too!"

If you can think of other temp or part-time workers that might be affected by it, please post that here.
