Default 19 arrested in Tampa in illegal immigration sting

19 arrested in Tampa in illegal immigration sting
Nineteen people in Tampa, along with 74 others throughout Florida, were arrested last week in a federal sting targeting illegal immigrants with violent criminal records.
During the sting, two other people were arrested on charges of illegally reentering the country after deportation. One of those arrests was in Tampa, the other in Fort Myers, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said.
Also arrested last week was a 44-year-old Mexican national who had a 2002 conviction in Collier County for child neglect. The immigrant had been living in Plant City. The charges of the other 92 foreign nationals include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
Twenty-five people were arrested in Miami-Dade County, eight in Broward, 13 in West Palm Beach, 11 in Orlando, one in Tallahassee, two in Jacksonville and 14 in Fort Myers during the five-day sting which ended Friday, authorities said.
"Arresting convicted criminals and immigration fugitives is a top priority," Marc Moore, field office director for Miami's ICE bureau, said in a statement. "Those who come to the United States to prey upon our neighbors and communities will be prosecuted for their crimes and ultimately returned to their home countries."
All are in ICE custody pending immigration removal proceedings or removal from the U.S. The arrestees hail from 22 different nations, including countries in Latin America, Asia, Europe, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

ICE Nabs 95 Criminals in Massive Florida Operation
25 convicted illegal immigrants arrested in Miami-Dade
Nearly 100 illegal immigrants with criminal records were arrested last week in Florida during a massive roundup by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that targeted violent criminals, sex offenders and drug traffickers.
A total of 95 arrests were made during the operation, including 25 in Miami-Dade, eight in Broward and 13 in Palm Beach County, the ICE said Monday.
ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations' arrests included 85 men and 10 women from 22 different nations, including countries in Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Among the bad guys rounded up were a 38-year-old Dominican Republic resident who was living in Miami Lakes with convictions for second-degree attempted murder, burglary with assault or battery and child abuse.
In Apopka, ICE nabbed a 25-year-old Mexican national and gang member convicted for cocaine possession.
"Arresting convicted criminals and immigration fugitives is a top priority for ICE ERO," Marc Moore, field office director for ICE ERO in Miami, said in a statement. “Those who come to the United States to prey upon our neighbors and communities will be prosecuted for their crimes and ultimately returned to their home countries."

When you see all the work that has to go into deporting illegals who have commited a second crime after crossing our borders illegally and being here without permission, it's easy to see that the only real solution is policing the simple presence of illegal immigrants. Nobody should be in this country who does not have explicit documented permmision to be here and our border should be aggressively and enthusiastically policed against illegal entry.

Protecting our borders is an issue that has fallen off the radar screen recently.
