Default Mexican Consulate Gets California Legislators Ear

First we have to compete with lobbyists, now we have to compete with Mexican government for our representation in the state house

The Consulate General of Mexico is pleased to announce the first edition of "Mexico Advocacy Day" on Wednesday May 12th, 2010.

In what we hope will become an annual tradition, a delegation of academics, public officials and private sector representatives from both Mexico and The U.S. will meet with state legislators and officials to foster relations between Mexico and California, around two specific issues.

List of Participants Mexico-California Mexico’s Advocacy Day

In this first edition, we will be talking about "Border Crossing Facilitation & Disaster Coordination".

•Andrew Selee, Director of the Woodrow Wilson Center's Mexico Institute.
• Mrs. Linda Adams, Secretary, California Environmental Protection Agency, Cal-EPA
•Mr. Matthew Bettenhausen, Secretary, California Emergency Management Agency, Cal-EMA
•Carlos González Gutiérrez, Consul General of Mexico
•Juan Tintos Funcke, General Coordinator, Public Relations, Government of Baja California.
•Mario Rodríguez, Baja California State Deputy Director of Civil Protection (Disaster Coordination)
•Carlos López, Director for Territorial Regulation, Baja California State´s Infrastructure and Urban Development Secretariat.
•Sean Carlos Cázares Ahearne, Deputy Director General for Border Affairs, SRE.
•Gad Neumann Neuhahn, Central Administrator, Customs Planning, AGA-SAT
•José San Martín, Director General for Highway Development, SCT*
•Gary Gallegos, SANDAG’s Executive Director
•Ricardo Martínez, Deputy Secretary for Border Affairs, California Environmental Protection Agency
•Edgar Ruiz, Border Legislative Conference
•David R. Ayón, Leavey Center for the Study of Los Angeles
•Amir Hemmat, Co-Founder & President/CEO at SABEResPODER
Why would it be of any concern to speak with state legislators about border crossing facilitation. That's a federal matter, right?

Oh yeah, and the mobile mexican matricula card express is on the prowl again:

Saturday June 12th, 2010.
