The Arab league pushed for western involvement, now criticizes western involvement.
Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have planes involved in the no fly zone. Saudi Arabia is a religious police state. The Saud family plays a balancing act between Wahhabism they let on the loose in Saudi Arabia decades ago and the mercenary fact that there is money to be made selling oil to the US. They keep a tight grip on the populace, but that doesn't mean there won't be a fundamentalist uprising in Saudi Arabia.

The Mid East is in the prosess of being taken over by someone for someone. When it is finished I think the French and all others who wanted a no fly zone will be sorry. I don't think Obama will be able to get out, too much involvement at this point. I wonder what would happen if all the anti American forces decided to turn on our government, just what would our government do? Fight as Kadaffy is doing or just give up so you do not hurt civilians? |
