California educated illegal alien charged with rape in Pennsylvania
On Wednesday, Middlesex Township police arrested Melvin Ernesto Mercado, 18, after he allegedly raped a woman outside a business on the Harrisburg Pike on Monday night. Mercado worked and lived at the business where the alleged assault took place.
The 19-year-old victim immediately reported the crime to police, but Mercado fled by the time police arrived. He was taken into custody when he returned to work for his scheduled shift two day later, according to Detective Gerald Stiegelman.
At the time of his arrest, Mercado had a California-issued high school identification in his possession.
Mercado has been charged with multiple crimes including sexual assault. He is currently being held in the Cumberland County Prison on an immigration detainer.
