Illegal Vietnamese workers anger South Korea

South Korea has temporarily stopped accepting new migrant workers from Vietnam.

An official says it is because about 2,000 Vietnamese have failed to leave South Korea after their work visas expired.

More than 4,100 Vietnamese workers who entered the South in 2004 and 2005 were supposed to have left the country between January and August this year, officals say only about half that number have so far departed.

An estimated 160,000 foreigners are staying in South Korea illegally after their work or tourist visas expired.
