I was registered Decline to State for many years . . . the only problem is if you wanted to vote for a Republican in the Primaries, you had to re-register as Republican for your vote to count - not so with the Democrats, they'll take anyone's vote in the Primaries.
For the General election, you can be Decline to State and vote for whoever, I'm not sure why they don't do the same for the primaries. |

Of course when the actual constitutionally mandated elections come along, there is only one ballot. It makes absolutely no difference what the political parties the candidates belong to. No candidate for any office anywhere in the US, local, state or federal, need belong to any political party at all in order to run or serve. The primaries are a huge mess and expensive too and only exist to subsidize, with your tax dollars, the "Two Party System".

News & Information JOIN CHELENE NIGHTINGALE IN AN EVENT FILLED EVENING - THIS SATURDAY The Chelene Nightingale for Governor campaign will be celebrating the early success of our hard work. Last week the Nightingale campaign discovered that we are competing with the two-party big name candidates and placed in the top four. Our campaign is currently beating out the California Republican endorsed candidate Steve Poizner. This is a sweet victory considering our campaign operates on minimal funding compared to the $20 million spent by the Poizner campaign. According to several polls including the California Policy Institute poll, voters are ready to vote outside the two main parties. This places the Nightingale For Governor campaign in a solid position this election period. And we can continue to succeed with your participation at the fundraising celebration! Your donations will be utilized for our upcoming campaign travels to Sunnyvale (Campaign Liberty Event with Pelosi challenger John Dennis); Fresno & Eureka (April 15 Tea Parties). In addition, funds will be spent for printing more campaign materials and radio advertising. So join us this coming Saturday at the Uncorked Wine Bar in celebration of our patriot campaign success! Patriot comedian Elzie Alexander will make us laugh! In addition, we will host a raffle with some great prizes! Come unite with patriots you have marched with over the past few years! The tickets are only $75 per person (or $120 per couple) and include wine, hors d'ouerves, and entertainment! Please RSVP email at reservations@nightingaleforgovernor.com Location: Uncorked Wine Bar 22342 El Paseo Drive Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688 Date: Saturday, March 13, 2010 Time: Begins at 4:00 PM Ends at 8:00 PM

What does it mean that voters appear willing to vote outside the two main parties? Are they no longer registering with the two main parties?
