Carol Swain
Davi:
Carol Swain, a black woman, is Professor of law and politics at Vanderbilt University. Here's one of her articles: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/carol-..._b_255029.html She says: There is a name for what has happened. It is called "mission creep." Mission creep occurs when an organization strays beyond its original purpose and engages in actions antithetical to its goals. Rather than monitoring hate groups, the Southern Poverty Law Center has become one. Here's her just released book: http://www.frc.org/eventregistration...th-and-promise She sent an advanced, autographed copy to me which I am presently reading. This is Swain's profile:
I am a former high school dropout and a teen mother of two who rose above rural poverty to attain the rank of Professor of Political Science and Professor of Law at Vanderbilt University. Before taking the job at Vanderbilt in 1999, I was a tenured Associate Professor of Politics and Public Affairs at Princeton University. My calling is to speak truth to power. She is a Black woman who does not claim to be a victim. |

We Win!
We won this one. Small victory, but it's a start.
The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors have removed the SPLC name and association from the resolution. I've uploaded the two documents so you can see the changes. |
