So if they can't leave, yet they can't stay, then what are they suppose to do? I'd love to see them all point south and keep on walking, but that's not going to happen. Even if they chose to, it would take years for them all to leave. There has to be a plan to getting them to exit or at least an expectation that they will leave.

True! It is a commonly promoted misconception that the solution to our illegal immigration is some orgasmic mobilization of resources in a sudden purge of illegals. But this would also serve to eclipse our lax enforcement of basic laws. And this is all that is necessary, a steady relentless policing against the simple presence of illegal immigrants as a permanent social policy.
We simple make a governing decision that illegal immigrants are to no longer be tolerated in the US and as a regular matter, day in and day out, we will catch them, prosecute them and remove them from the country.
For a while, it will be an overwhelming job. But as we settle in to this enforcement policy, it will become easier and easier. The reason we have the problem is because we are not enforcing our laws. That's it. The only reason the illegals are here is because we are not enforcing our laws. Once they see we are enforcing our laws, then they will not make the decision to come here. This is where we need to effect illegals, before they commit the act of crossing our borders illegally, when they are on the other side of the border. And we do this by making it clear that we will not tolerate their presence here and we will not tolerate US citizens who suggest otherwise. And if you are a legal immigrant who tolerates illegal immigrants, then you will be removed too.
