Anything short of a full count of people in California would deny the cash-strapped state much-needed federal funding, said Baca, D-Rialto. Already, California is facing a budget gap in excess of $20 billion. Whether or not undocumented immigrants are counted, 'the cost and the burden will still be on the states to provide public services,' he said.

'While certain state representation may be disproportionately impacted by not counting illegal immigrants, such as Texas, Florida, New York and California, we cannot undermine the rule of law by giving illegal immigrants an undeserved status through the census,' Calvert said.[/QUOTE]

Why should other states who have taken steps to discourage the illegals from coming there have to share the burden of the state of California that has encouraged the illegals and supported them putting this state in bankruptcy. Sure the liberal politicians here in California want other states to support their bad policies and keep the status quo. Why wouldn't they, at least until enough La Raza politicians are set in place and Mexico can have complete control. By counting the illegals and pulling in more federal money, the state will not change its illegal loving ways, on the contrary, they will work at providing more for them.
