Default The ACLU Santa

Here is my Christmas poem for the year, I hope you like it.

The ACLU Santa
Adapted by Greg in LA

Twas the week before Christmas
When all through the school, all the grade school kids were stirring,
Not just at their house.

The decorations were hung in the class rooms with care in hopes that the Christmas cookie party would soon be there.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, and what to their wondering eyes should appear?
But, the ACLU Santa and eight At-tor-neys.
More rapid than eagles their 9th circuit court orders came.
The ACLU Santa whistled and shouted and called them by name. Now Nancy and Johnny give
Us the candy and cookies –
The cards and the carols -
The wreath and the manger -
The stockings and tree.

Why, don’t you kids know.
You can’t have a Christmas party
Haven’t you heard?
School Christmas parties are gone
And they’re now forbidden.
Kwanza crackers are fine
And on international woman’s day you can have a cake.

Haven’t you ever heard of separation of church and state ?
Now give us this party,
This is not
A mistake.

With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head the little children knew that they had
Everything to dread.
So the cookies he snatched
And their little hands were now empty.
The ACLU Santa…
Oh Gee! What a big jerk.
Flipping the finger aside of his nose, and giving a nod out the door he rose. They heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight:
Ba humbug - to all, and to all a good night.
