Default NBC Set to Hire NPR Retread Vivian Schiller

NBC Set to Hire NPR Retread Vivian Schiller

By Don Irvine | June 2, 2011

Former National Public Radio president and CEO Vivian Schiller who resigned in March after video surfaced showing an NPR fundraiser making disparaging remarks about Republicans and the Tea Party is apparently returning to the news business.
According to Steve Kafka Schiller is in negotiations to join NBC and will be in charge of digital projects:
People familiar with the company say Schiller, who once ran the New York Times’ Web site, will report to NBC News chief Steve Capus. Both Schiller and NBC declined to comment.
NBC will be taking a risk in hiring Schiller based on the circumstances under which she left NPR but considering her liberal credentials she is a perfect ft for the network.
Update: Schiller Hired
From NBC news release:
“Bringing Vivian on board enhances this network’s mission of growth and the evolution of its digital businesses and strategy. With Vivian’s help, NBC News will be recognized as the premier broadcast news organization in America, as well as the most innovative, comprehensive and trusted news operation,” said Steve Capus. “Her background in journalism, combined with expertise in the digital space will add a strong new pillar to the NBC News leadership team.”
