Since the late 70's lot of it has to do with the schools and parents who abdicate their parental authority to the school system.

A lot of adults might confuse Franklin D. Roosevelt and Benjamin Franklin. Not long ago, I asked a 7 year old what she knew about American presidents. Sounding proud of it, she declared that "Barack Obama is our president". I asked about more, then after some thought she mentioned Abraham Lincoln - "he was a good person who kept bad people from doing bad things to good people". She knew nothing else, not even about George Washington. More recently, there was a newspaper article about a nearby middle school ESL program, an example of the lesson plan had to do with articulating about Martin Luther King and organized protests against injustice.

So, a lot of the kids can't read, write, do arithmetic, nor have any sense of our history and special place among nations when they leave school. But, they will be well versed in societal change and fully primed to vote far left Democrat...
