Ron Gochez is part of the price Americans pay to live in a free society. Free expression is essential to the workings of an (supposedly) informed democracy. Exhibits of ugliness like the thoughtless shenanigans of that taxpayer-funded anchor baby from Santee H.S. are offerings of The Marketplace of Ideas at its most raw. In the U.S., you've got a right to make an absolute jack-fool of yourself by putting your stupidity on display and, in a large enough population, there will always be X percentage of folks who will do things that drive others around the bend.

Cheering for Fidel Castro to a crowd of Cuban-Americans is about a stone's throw away from Nazis marching through a Jewish neighborhood ... but it's part of the deal. Our ability to endure this and permit such expression does us proud, it doesn't diminish us. Ron Gochez, Carlos Alvarez, "Piss Christ," David Duke, flag burnings ... their ongoing presence in the U.S. speaks to our commitment to freedom and civil liberties.

It's what it is, folks.

By the way, don't even bother to raise the point that he shouldn't be employed at a public school and paid with taxpayer money; I wholeheartedly agree with that assertion.
