I'm all for getting rid of latin phrases like that. Those latin words aren't like other words that come from other languages like French.

Consider the word "bureaucrat" or "bureaucracy". I never know how to spell it, but can anyone imagine speaking without having the word in their vocabulary? It's French. Other words get in from native Americans, "canoe", "kayak". There just is no other substitute.

Whenever anyone uses latin phrases, I never know what they are talking about. There is no attempt to integrate these clearly foreign words into the English language, they are always spoken as if they were a foreign language that everyone is just supposed to understand.

Get rid of them. Speak English.
