Recycling Company Executives Face Jail for Hiring Undocumented Workers
Senior managers of a wood pallet recycling company have pled guilty to hiring undocumented immigrants, and are scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, according to prosecutors.
The prosecutors say that five senior managers in the Texas and Florida locations of the former IFCO Systems N.A. committed the violations between 2003 and 2006 at IFCO plants nationwide.
The sentencing is scheduled to take place in federal court in Houston.
The wood pallet recycling company in 2008 agreed to pay almost $21 million to settle charges of illegal hiring in New York.
Charles Davidson of San Antonio, Christopher Tiesman and Kenneth Gines of Spring, plus Haskell "Buddy" Ross of Lakeland, Fla., and Wendy Mudra of Tampa, Fla., worked in accounting or human resources.
All five, who pleaded guilty Thursday, face maximum six-month prison terms and fines of up to $3,000 for each unauthorized worker.
