"This could be a defining moment for our old headmistress Chelena. If the committee decides to restrict who can vote in their primary, this would rob her of much of her support base, and likely leave her out on the street without a party affiliation, and probably out of the ballot entirely."

Out of which ballot? The primary ballot? Once again, let us be reminded that there is nothing necessary about political parties running their primary elections on public ballots. The whole idea of political parties letting other political primaries is more desperation from the "two party system" struggling against "decline to state" voters and the gravity of removing the primary elections all together.

If political parties want to let other members of other political parties vote in their primaries, then they can do so on their own time by running their own primaries and not using public elections.

And maybe this is a good time to remind people that it is none of the government's business to ask what your political party is when you register or re-register to vote. Funny isn't it, the only time you might consider re-registering to vote is if you change political parties. It is none of the government's business what your political party is and has no business asking when you register or re-register.

If Chelene needs voters outside of the AIP to get support for AIP's candidacy, what does that say about the AIP? It is one thing for the Republicans or the Democrats to allow AIP members or Decline to State voters to vote in their primaries. They think of themselves as forces of nature and the AIP and the rest of the "third parties" exist to dignify this image they have of themselves. But the AIP is going to come off looking like a party of no substance if they allow voters outside the party to participate.

Maybe Chelene should be running without a political party.
