Former Brawley resident arrested, extradited from Mexicali
A 27-year-old American fugitive and suspected drug smuggler was detained by authorities in Mexicali before being handed over to American authorities, Mexican officials said.
Robert Alejandro Hernandez Salazar was stopped by Baja California state police after they spotted him urinating in public Wednesday night in the Carbajal colonia of Mexicali, a press release stated. Salazar, a former Brawley resident, was detained after a brief pursuit and was determined to be wanted for by American law enforcement.
Salazar is suspected by American authorities of smuggling narcotics, the press release stated.
