Of course, nobody can control the past. But, by controlling what can be published in reporting the past, you do indeed control people's perception of the present and their anticipation of the future. Our perception of the past should be constantly evolving as we better understand the world and our existence. We know things about the universe and humanity that the people who founded our government could never have known.

Regretably, dispite revolutions in knowledge and technology, it becomes more and more true that they knew things that too many citizens of the US ought to know but don't.
