He was truly a very exceptional person. His entire military/Presidential career entailed remarkable fortitude, stamina, courage and conviction.
My daughter sent a book about his life to me that she bought at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.
We have here near me the Town of Tappan where Washington was headquartered, in the DeWint house, during the trial of traitor Andre a spy who was hanged. The Tavern, Old 78, where he was jailed is still there and open for business. The church where Andre was tried is in town. The Manse is the home of the Church Pastor. It is the oldest parsons house in American still used. And the house where Washington was lodged is still standing and open to visitors. It is maintained by the Masons.
