An anthropologist finds evidence of cannibalism?

If they'd simply read any of the contemporaneous accounts of the Aztecs they could have saved themselves a lot of trouble. Human flesh was a staple of the Aztec ruling class. They harvested children from conquered, enslaved tribes as tribute. Cortez was only able to defeat the vastly superior numbers of the Aztec warriors by concluding alliances with aggrieved neighboring Indian tribes who had been conquered and enslaved by the Aztec Empire. For them, the Spanish Conquest was a war of liberation.

It's nice to know the physical evidence discovered 500 years after the fact supports contemporaneous accounts.
