It was $94 billion in '07 and $135 billion in '10. They don't mention it, but the cost of keeping them here has also gone up proportionally, so no matter what, it will always be cheaper to throw them all out than keep them here.
But that's just the money, there are also other advantages to throwing them out as well that don't show up right away on the books. Once we throw them all out, the costs of enforcement goes down and the cost of border enforcement goes down. There is also life on the street that will improve and this could very well stimulate the economy. It will certainly improve our political life which could also stimulate the economy. The housing market could improve because the quality of neighborhoods would improve.
There are also consequences for legal non-citizens. We can reliably assume that most if not all legal immigration at this point has a relationship with illegal immigration, especially where the native language is not English. Purging illegals will have economic consequences for legal residents. They may be forced to return to their countries of origin or turn to more vulnerable criminal activity.
The so-called "labor market" that is supposed to depend on illegal immigration will also collapse and the cheap, low quality, negligent work that is done by illegals will no longer be available. The increase in the quality of work that actually needs to be done will also stimulate the economy. No more tearing up the streets every two years to keep some fat Mexican or Canadian in blue collar wages. No more leaf-blower monkeys.
It's all good. There is no downside to hunting down and throwing out illegal immigrants.
