Yes.
While the Mexican military did operate in that capacity I believe it set off a loud howl of "get them the hell off our soil" from our citizens to Congress.
And what did they accomplish besides making a show of presence? I don't know.
I believe the fact that it happened at all had to do with an American governmental attempt to score points for "cooperation" and a Mexican governmental attempt to take advantage of it. Maybe I'm cynical and uniformed, but I don't recall hearing anything about the Mexican military rushing to the rescue for Mexican citizens on Mexican soil after a hurricane wipes out some of their coastal communities.
And for me, that's the rub.
The Mexican government cares nothing about Mexican citizens until they enter the United States. Then they get all foaming at the mouth about "human rights" which Mexico doesn't provide for anyone, and otherwise despised and ridiculed American born descendants of Mexicans magically become part of the Mexican Empire.
The hypocrisy and gaming is astounding, and the fact that any Americans swallow it at all is nothing short of shamefully amazing.
