Stupid.
This whole SB 1070 immigration argument is so stupid that it is completely ludicrous.
It all boils down to one single basic condition. Those that want the laws enforced and those that don't.
Comprehensive immigration reform is widely defined as "amnesty". But it is more than that. It is actually the unraveling, gutting, dismemberment of existing Federal Customs and Immigration laws.
The thing that has the pro amnesty, open borders crowd so flustered is the fact that Arizona actually intends to enforce the laws that already exist. SB 1070 is nothing more than a mirror of Federal laws already existing.
Lets say that robbers have been successfully robbing banks in town for years and the law doesn't stop them, catch them or prosecute them. *( Because the police chief is on the take ). Along comes a new sheriff who promptly arrests bank robbers. The robbers and their colleagues, associates and families begin screaming bloody murder. The Mayor and Town council create a proposal to forgive and forget the robbery's !
