MEXICO CITY -- Mexican prosecutors say the U.S. has agreed to extradite a suspect wanted in a revenge-fueled killing spree that left three men dead in 1998.
The Michoacan state Attorney General's Office says 47-year-old Jose Guadalupe Cruz Garfias demanded money from one of the victims after a fight at a dance, then vowed revenge when he refused to pay.
A Friday news release alleges that Cruz Garfias shot the man at a store, and gunned down his brother and brother-in-law a few days later.
Mexican officials say Cruz Garfias fled to San Jose, Calif., and assumed the identity of a legal immigrant to throw off authorities. He is one of 13 fugitives from Michoacan arrested in the U.S. this year.
A date for his extradition was not given.
