LA Times Story Links Illegal Aliens to Political Corruption

Even liberals admit the truth if you wait long enough. Now the LA Times which has for decades lied about the great contributions of illegal aliens has published its own analysis of voting patterns and civic corruption in LA County cities that have been overrun by illegal aliens and has concluded their impact is devastating.

In summary, hordes of illegal aliens, who can't legally vote, drive out American citizens who can legally vote, and you get cities with comparatively small voting blocks, where only 10% of the electorate actually votes. This opens the door for election fraud and chicanery with special elections that can be determined by comparatively small numbers of voters. A great read.

Unfortunately, this article focuses only on municipal electoral corruption and ignores the corrupting national impact of millions of illegal aliens clustered in certain states: Because all people, including non-citizens, are counted in the census that is used for congressional redistricting and representation, States with huge illegal alien populations have extra congressmen and extra electoral votes and are able to unfairly tilt American politics in Congress and in presidential elections to the left in favor of the illegal alien infested Democratic Party. In the final analysis, illegal aliens have a corrupting effect on American democracy, although this is frequently ignored.

I'm not so sure that the inclination towards corruption hasn't been there all along:

Perhaps only the opportunity need arise, as happened in Bell.

As it was explained to me by a Riverside County mayor who is very savvy on law enforcement, Robert Rizzo - American Citizen and former city manager of the City of Bell - might spend 18 months in a white collar prison and walk out with the enormous retirement he achieved by bilking the City of Bell. Per Calpers retirement procedures, MOST OF THAT INSANE PAYOUT WILL BE FOOTED BY THE CITY OF HESPERIA, where he was employed for many years.

Sometimes, business interests use the threat of a recall to get their way.

The lawyer denied the allegations. In Commerce's most recent recall, two of Leal's firms contributed at least $17,000 to committees involved in the recall.

The reason the recall has become such a popular tool, political experts say, is simple: Low-turnout contests, especially those on days when there are no other elections, allow groups of disaffected voters or well-funded special interest groups to win relatively cheaply.

"You don't have to talk to as many voters," said Chris Robles, a political consultant who has been involved in recalls in recent years in Lynwood, Maywood and Montebello.

These communities also tend to lack a vibrant local press and civic institutions that can vet candidates and issues, some observers say. In this vacuum, special interests can hire consultants to unleash the tools of modern campaigning — fliers and robo-calls — and turn an election.

"When you have local community people … up against these kind of political professionals, a lot of the time they get outgunned," said Assemblyman Hector De La Torre (D-South Gate), a former city councilman who has led the charge to reform government in the area.

"You have disengagement and apathy … but at the same time, hyperactivity among elites," said Steve Erie, a political science professor at UC San Diego. "There is no watchdog function to constrain their behavior.... This is what happens when you can rewrite the rules to produce real payoffs."

Nice try.

Millions of illegal aliens clustered in one state will result in overepresentation in Congress and more electoral votes for that state than would otherwise be the case. This is very similar to the problem of how to count slaves in the old south. Even though slaves were not citizens and could not vote (although freed blacks could vote in many parts of the South and New England), Southerners wanted slaves counted 100% because it would have increased the numbers of congressmen and electoral votes from Southern states. This issue resulted in the three-fifths compromise at the constititutional convention, whereby only 3/5's of the slaves were counted for purposes of congressional representation and electoral votes.

Even as the slave issue corrupted American democracy in the 1700's and early 1800's, the illegal alien presence corrupts American democracy today because it gives states with large illegal alien populations excessive congressmen and electoral votes.

Even as bad money drives out good money (Say's Law), illegal aliens drive out citizens by stealing jobs, driving down wages, dumbing down schools and transforming communities into slums. This reduces the numbers of citizens (i.e. legal voters) as a percentage of the population so that a comparatively small "electorate" can have the same power as a much larger electorate in a district or city with all citizens. Citizens are not immune to corruption, but the skewing of the electorate by large numbers of illegal aliens increase the opportunities for corruption.

Tiny industrial towns like Vernon and Commerce have the same problem, but because they have tiny populations are essentially fifedoms.

If you want to throw out charges of corruption brought by illegal aliens, you first have to address the corruption of AMERICANS WHO HIRE THEM AND AMERICAN POLITICIANS WHO LOOK THE OTHER WAY.

You have to address the politicians who "make it all about illegals" and the business owners who hire illegals under the green light held up by politicians.

If it weren't for those two groups of enablers, WE WOULDN'T HAVE AN ILLEGAL ALIEN PROBLEM.
