Obama Birther Movement

Liberal commentator Chris Matthews has now gone on record demanding that Obama produce his long form birth certificate to quell the rising controversy about where he was born. Is this weird issue really gaining traction?

I've never believed Obama Jr. was born in Africa. To me it seemed improbable that Obama Sr. would have taken his white "wife" back to Kenya to give birth. He already had an African wife and child there as well as a disapproving African father who opposed interracial marriage! Among other things, Obama Sr's father warned that spoiled white women would not take kindly to the African practice of wife beating, unlike obedient African wives who knew their place and did what they were told. Obama Sr.'s African father apparently had the weird idea that Obama Sr. should support his African wife and child to whom he was still married.

It didn't make sense to me that Obama Sr. would return to Kenya to face the wrath of his father and his African wife when he could just stay in the USA and continue to pursue white women after he tired of Obama Jr.'s white mother. In fact, after abandoning Obama Jr. and his white mother, Obama Sr. moved on to greener pastures at Harvard University where he met and ultimately married another star struck white woman, with whom he produced more children that he did not support. She accompanied Obama Sr. to Kenya, but divorced him because he got drunk and beat her. Obama Sr. was a smooth, hard drinking womanizer who loved Mercedes automobiles and took pride in buying drinks for friends with whom he got inebriated in the local bars. He always had enough money to buy liquor for friends, but not enough to support any of the 8 children that he produced with 4 different women. (Source: "Dreams From My Father" by Barack Obama).

Even so, the the Birther movement appears to be gaining momentum and the issue shows no sign of going away. Now ultra liberal Chris Matthews has called for Obama to release his long form birth certificate.

Is this weird issue really going to gain traction and influence the outcome of the 2012 election?

No. The whole "Birther" thing is a fake debate to cover up the issue that is struggling to come up. It is the issue of birthright citizenship.

By all rights and reasons, Obama and anyone whose parents are not both US citizens, cannot really claim citizenship. The closest we can get to a public confrontation on this is the even less rational claim that even the offspring of illegal immigrants born on US soil are US citizens by birth.

Obama's father was not a US citizen. As far as I am concerned, and the facts for which are not in debate, Obama is not a citizen and should not be president for that simple fact, just like so many in this country claim citizenship and don't really have any legitimate claims on citizenship.
