El Centro Sector Border Patrol Seizes Cloned UPS Vehicle Carrying 13 Illegal Aliens

Niland, Calif. – On Friday afternoon, El Centro Sector CBP U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a 21-year-old male attempting to smuggle illegal aliens using a cloned United Parcel Service (UPS) van.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m., after Border Patrol agents observed a UPS van attempting to circumvent the Highway 111 Checkpoint. Agents conducted a vehicle stop and discovered 13 passengers hiding inside the back of the van. After further investigation, agents determined that the van was not a legitimate UPS van.


The driver was identified as a United States citizen. The 13 passengers were identified as Mexican citizens without legal immigration documents. The driver and illegal aliens were arrested and the cloned UPS van was seized.

CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.

Can't help but wonder just how many other company trucks and vans have been counterfeited to aid illegals smugglers.

It's been a while, but I've seen west bound caravans on the 10 freeway of vans purporting to be some sort of Christian school filled full of working age men (from early 20's to middle age). While race and clothes don't signify illegality, they had the look and feel of illegals doing day labor solicitation. It smelled of illegality.

Some years ago there were taxis in Colton which had incomplete phone numbers on the sides which were used to ferry illegals from drop of points off the freeway, such as the railroad under crossing. I think that scam's been busted, but I don't know for sure. The Border Patrol was aware of it before inland enforcement got scotched.

I see some strange things once in awhile and wonder what to do with information. Great job everyone.
